COSMETIC ACUPUNCTURE
Cosmetic acupuncture is a natural, non-invasive approach to embracing and loving your skin. Using fine needles, cosmetic acupuncture may support overall appearances of your skin, including brightening of fine lines and wrinkles, evening skin tone, treatment of acne and associated scarring, and may support symptoms associated with skin conditions such as rosacea. Cosmetic acupuncture has a rejuvenating effect on skin of all ages, whether you’re in your twenties, thirties, forties and beyond, cosmetic acupuncture is a safe, painfree method to support your skin.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
1
Boost collagen production
2
Increase blood circulation
3
Release and lift tight muscles
I believe we should embrace the skin we are in – for too long the beauty industry, capitalism and patriarchy have told us we’re not thin enough, youthful enough, pretty enough. Well, enough is enough, I want every woman to embrace their ageing bodies as a sign of reverence, of wisdom, of beauty. Cosmetic acupuncture embraces the body’s natural ageing process, rather than “hiding” ageing.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
HOW OFTEN WILL I NEED COSMETIC ACUPUNCTURE?
The recommended treatment schedule is 10 treatments over the course of 3 months. This typically works out to be weekly for 10 weeks, however, it is OK to skip a week if you are travelling, or scheduling doesn’t align. Following the initial treatment period, you may choose to continue acupuncture on a monthly basis as a “maintenance” appointment.
WHEN WILL I SEE RESULTS?
Typically patients will notice a difference after their initial appointment, however, the effects won’t be as lasting as the full 10 treatments as recommended in cosmetic acupuncture. After your first visit you might notice a brighter glow after treatment which might remain for 24 – 72 hours. As acupuncture is cumulative, over time you would expect the reduction in fine lines and wrinkles. After your initial consult Michelle will be able to provide a more detailed and realistic treatment timeline.
DOES FACIAL ACUPUNCTURE HURT?
We use the finest and highest quality facial acupuncture needles from Japan. You shouldn’t feel prolonged pain during your treatment, however, upon needle insertion there may be a subtle sensation of pain.
CAN ACUPUNCTURE CAUSE BRUISING?
There is always the risk of minimal bruising when receiving cosmetic acupuncture. Some typical areas of bruising are around the eyes as the skin is thinner and there are more blood vessels in this area. It is not common that I see bruising in clinic, however, it is always a possibility. Any bruising caused by acupuncture should be superficial and resolve in 3-7 days.
ARE HERBS NECESSARY?
Not all patients will require herbs, however, for some conditions, particularly excessive acne, psoriasis and eczema it is highly likely that herbs will be prescribed.
